This SHARE-supported research explores how urban communities in Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia have sought to develop affordable sanitation precedents that aim to catalyse further investments in sanitation. It outlines specific factors and processes have been identified to improve access to sanitation and influence affordability for low-income urban communities.
