Scaling Up EcoSan
This project, undertaken by the Bunda Agricultural College of Malawi and WaterAid, draws on synthesis of demographic data, socioeconomic and biological processes, and interviews with owners of EcoSan toilets to determine what motivates and/or deters households from adopting EcoSan in urban and rural areas of Malawi. This was with a view to identifying building blocks upon which EcoSan could be scaled-up throughout the country.
The report produced contains recommendations for the development of standards and guidelines for the safe management of ecological sanitation and human compost in Malawi.
